This epaper took some trial and error to get it running since the Waveshare demo file did not have the right SPI commands. Only the black version is implemented but it won’t be hard to get the red/black working. It has a very nice resolution, costs almost the same as the V2 version 800*480, having 10% more resolution. Fonts render very nice using Adafruit GFX and our class.

Inkplate 6

Inkplate is a project that refurbishes Kindle screens with an ESP32 and a lot of extra goodies. We like it very much. Sadly, the black is not "as black" as in other Goodisplay models, but the refresh speed is awesome and we think the parallel communication protocol with fast refresh is where all future epaper technology is heading. We do not support this epapers in Cale-idf but there is an Inkplate-platformio implementation ready to be compiled in this display.

PlasticLogic is a new german manufacturer of fast flexible epaper displays. They where kind enough to send me some samples so I added support in Cale-idf. This einks have 4 wire SPI so you can also read the temperature and display model:
  • plasticlogic021.h super fast high quality flexible displays. They need their own mini-SPI adapter to connect it with ESP32.
